Training Times

We meet three times a week at Caistor Sports and Social Club – see our contact page for a map.

Each month a training plan is published via email, Facebook and on the Events page of this website. Whilst we plan and advertise the runs in advance, we recognise that we must be flexible according to who attends each session. We also stop and wait and/or jog back so that all runners stay reasonably close together.

Importantly, we guarantee that newcomers will always be made to feel welcome, and will not have to run further or faster than they feel comfortable with. A group of members is responsible for looking after any less experienced newcomers.

Please go here to take a look at our training & events calendar.

TUESDAY 6.30PM and THURSDAY 6.30PM

Both evening sessions are designed to cater for all abilities. Distances tend to be between 3 and 6 miles; again, please see our Events page for specific details of each up-coming session.

Each week, one run will be a ‘steady’ group outing on one of the many popular running routes we have in and around Caistor and the surrounding areas. Faster runners wait at designated points on the route, or loop back to make sure nobody is ever left behind or made to feel as though they are holding anyone up.

The other run each week is a slightly more focussed interval session, where runners run at their own pace around shorter, looped routes (some flatter routes, some slightly hillier :)). Again these sessions are designed for all members to take part – whether they are amongst the steadier or speedier runners, as the shorter looped routes mean everyone can run at their own pace and feel part of the session.

We alternate the ‘steady’ and ‘session’ runs each week, so that if members can only attend on either a Tuesday or a Thursday, they get to enjoy both types of runs. That means our weekly runs always follow this basic sequence:

Week 1: Tuesday: ‘steady run’, Thursday: ‘session’
Week 2: Tuesday: ‘session’, Thursday: ‘steady run’
Week 3: Tuesday: ‘steady run’, Thursday: ‘session’
Week 4: Tuesday: ‘session’, Thursday: ‘steady run’
ad infinitum… 🙂

Please note that ‘away runs’ (runs not starting at CSSC) also start at 6.30PM, wherever they are located.

SATURDAY 8.30 AM

Of the 3 sessions we hold, this one tends towards slightly longer distances of typically around 5 – 8 miles and often with some off-road sections. However, runs are tailored to suit everyone who turns up,  so that everyone feels comfortable with the pace and distance covered.
